With school almost over and the days getting longer, we feel that summer is near. The kids are counting down the days until summer. On Friday they spent the afternoon at a birthday party and they loved being able to run and play and have a huge water fight. That evening we went over to Nichole and Randy's and the kids spent time at the park. Saturday Kirra had another birthday party. She loves birthday parties and this one was special because it was one of her closest friends. They spent the evening playing with the Tysdal's which is always something they enjoy and then when it is time, they never want to leave.
A sad part of the weekend was Saturday morning when Jaret discovered that his fish, Flicker, died. Flicker lived for a couple of years and was a determined fish. We thought his life was going to end months ago as he hadn't looked healthy for a long time. While Jaret was in tears, Terry and I were consoling him. At one point we were telling him how proud we were and that he did such a great job of looking after Flicker and being responsible with feeding him. It was at that point, through his tears that he asked us if that means he gets a puppy now. It was pretty cute. However, I told him that Mom isn't ready yet. I guess it was worth a try on his part though.
Father's Day we went out for breakfast to Red's Diner. Terry had been wanting to check the place out for a while. What made him even more excited was the new app he found that allows you to put your name on the wait list to hold a spot in line. It saved us time. From there we spent some time down by the river. The afternoon was spent hanging out on the deck watching the Mariner's game. Then after supper on the deck, we went to DQ. It was a relaxing day. Hope we have many more like that with summer approaching. It was a great way to spend together as a family.
Happy Father's Day to all to all the Dads out there! Hope it was a good one.
