Kirra had her Character Awards Ceremony last week. At this Ceremony, she received the Christ-like character award for VIRTUE. Virtue is to show high moral standard and to do the right thing, even when it is difficult. Her teacher chose Colossians 3:12-14, "...clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience." It makes my heart leap for joy to hear of the words spoken of my daughter and to know that the work we do to help grow her, as well as the work of the teachers at school and those who influence her at church all makes a difference in the girl she is becoming. And sitting and listening to the wonderful things said of all the students in her class just made me so proud of the students we have at our school.
A second part of the Awards Ceremony was when the students got to read poems for the parents. It was so adorable hearing Kirra read her poem with such expression. It made me smile. Hope you enjoy it as well...
Jaret's award ceremony was on the second last day of school. He received the Christ-like character award for THOUGHTFULNESS. He is thoughtful with friends and also he is very thorough and thoughtful in his school work. The Bible verse chosen for him was Romans 12:2, "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." When Jaret came back to his seat after receiving his award he said, "I think that is an accurate award to describe me."
Each student got to also give a speech answering from some questions given by the teacher. Many of the students spoke of the Christmas concert being their favourite memory but not Jaret, he is all about the learning and chose science, specifically creating his electric car that they got to race down the hallways to test. He brought me to tears as he said a special thank you to me for helping him with homework and with his stress and complaining. What a thoughtful son!
Another year has come to an end and it always leaves me with mixed emotions. I am excited that summer is here and the time I will have to spend with the kids (I will be more excited when I am also done and don't have my own homework still to do). It also leaves me saddened over how quickly the year flew by and is a reminder of how quickly the years are passing as my children are just that much older.
