Last Day of School

School's out for summer!!!!  The kids are excited that today was their last day of school.  They had a great year but they are always excited about summer.  And who can blame them?

All the classes in Grades 1 through 6 have class presentations where the Bible Medals and Christ-Like Character Awards are handed out.  Jaret's class was held earlier in the week.  His teacher, Mrs. Brooks, had them prepare questions with answers ahead of time.  Then as each of the students went to the front, they spun a wheel that landed on a question that needed to be answered.  The probability of the app must have been off as it seemed most of the boys were able to answer the question about the funniest thing they will remember from the year (there was lots of giggling going on).  Jaret thought the funniest part was when he had a part in a skit for chapel that was recorded - he had to push a couple girls off the playground and he thought this was funny because he would never do that in real life and this time a teacher actually told him to do it.  He was presented with his Bible Memory Medal which meant he said all the Bible verses this year (and received over 80%) and then also recited ten of these verses in May.  Jaret was given the Christ-Like Character Award of Orderliness.

"But everything must be done in a proper and orderly way."  ~ 1 Corinthians 14:40

His teacher stated that Jaret was the only one in class that got his $5 of class money every day because his desk was so neat and tidy.  She used words like studious, through and organized.  She exclaimed, "If I had a classroom full of Jarets, my job would be a cake-walk; it would be easy."  She said he shows good self-control, most of the time, except when a few students will say or do something funny and then Jaret gets the giggles and then it is hard for him to reign in the giggles (which she did love hearing).  She stated that God is a God of order and believes that God has really blessed Jaret with a full measure of orderliness and that he will use it for His glory as he grows.

Jaret also got a gold medal in music class.

Kirra had her Awards Ceremony today at school.  She received her Bible Memory Medal and the Christ-like Character Award for Generosity.  Her teacher said that Kirra is so generous.  She is always there to lend a pencil or eraser to a friend who needs one and she is always willing to give hugs to anyone and everyone.  She is always there to encourage with a kind word for those who may need it.  Her teacher shared that, "Kirra is always overflowing with abundance and joy toward others because she never holds back and she is so generous."

"Give and it will be given to you.  A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap."  ~Luke 6:38

A couple of Kirra's favourite boys who she talks about all the time (yes, we are in trouble as we know she is only seven years old - I can totally wait for the pre-teen and teen years).

We are so grateful for the education our children are getting that is rooted in God's Word.  We are thankful for the staff who pour themselves into their teaching that impact our children so greatly.  We are pleased with the friendships that our children are forming with others that will carry on right into Grade 12.  We truly do feel blessed.  I am just not sure I am comfortable with saying that I have a son in Grade 5 and a daughter in Grade 2.  The years are passing by so quickly.  And yet, I am thankful for the character I am seeing being developed in my children and so proud of the children they are becoming.  They bring my heart so much joy!  Now bring on summer (oh wait, I have another week and a half of work)!
