Aside from asking for a puppy or fish, Jaret has been saying, "Well, what about a turtle then or a hamster or a bunny or a bird?" I get the feeling he really wants another pet. And I am almost certain that he is asking for those pets, knowing that I will say, "No." Definitely not like the story I read as a child. Maybe you remember it, it was called, "But No Elephants." The women in the story takes in one pet after another from a salesman that continues to show up at her door. However she draws the line when she constantly says, "But no elephants." Eventually, the lady does take in the elephant as she feels bad for the elephant with winter coming. But soon, the food runs out and the elephant falls through the floor of the house. The elephant decides to stand up and starts walking and walking and moves the lady, her pets, and the house to a tropical locale. Hmmmm, maybe I should tell the kids we need to get an elephant.
So yesterday, it was dreary and rainy and so the kids and I decided to go to PetLand. We were going to see the puppies. However, even though I have kind of fallen in love with a little Teacup Morkie named Kovu that friends of ours have, I reminded the kids that this does not mean that we are going to the pet store to buy any pets but to simply look. To our disappointment, the pet store didn't even have any puppies. I don't think I have ever walked into a pet store before that did not have puppies. That being said, I did not think they would have Teacup Morkies and even though I am being worn down a little regarding a puppy, it was not my intention to walk out with a puppy or any pet. We were just looking.
But...Go Fish...meet Pinky (Kirra's Fish) and Flicker (Jaret's Fish):
Hmmmm, I wonder what would have happened if PetLand had a cute and adorable little Teacup Morkie?!
PS - Don't tell the kids how close I am to even thinking about getting a puppy.
