Halloween is my least favourite day of the year. My Grams came over for tea and a visit this afternoon. Kirra just had to be in her costume to answer the door. And as she opened the door, her Great Grandma said, "Trick or treat," and gave her some candy. It was a little backwards but Kirra was all to happy to accept the candy treat.
We don't hype Halloween up around our house. I really realized this fact when the kids had an after school snack, went out to play for a bit, then came home and played some more; all the time not even asking when they were going out trick or treating. It seemed like just another day. Of course, they do love dressing up in their costumes and then going to collect treats. Driving to school this morning, with Kirra already in her Snow White costume for her Pumpkin Party, Jaret started talking about when he was in Pre-School and Junior Kindergarten and got to dress up as an animal for the Noah's Ark Party and then went on a parade through the school. He didn't seem to wish that he was dressing up for school today but was disappointed that we weren't living in Calgary so we could go to our church for their Family Fun Carnival. That event was always so much fun with games and treats. But then the time finally came after supper to get ready to go out with Dad for some trick or treating, but really all treats and no tricks! Happy Halloween!
