Gratefulness

Another school year has come to a close.  Jaret is finished Grade 1 and will be in Grade 2 in the fall.  It is hard to believe that he is in Grade 2 already.  I truly understand what people say about the years going by so quickly.  Jaret had a wonderful year in Grade 1 with Mrs. Cossette and then Mrs. Haugen taking over the class in the spring.  He learned to love reading, he enjoys writing stories, he sees math as his gifting, and as his report card says, he will work on listening to directions the first time they are given so he knows the expectations.  That comment definitely didn't surprise me as we also see this at home from time to time.
I am proud of Jaret for working so diligently this past year to learn all his Bible Memory Verses.  He earned his Bible Medal and was so proud that his hard work paid off.  The character award that Jaret received was for his gratefulness.  The verse chosen for him was Colossians 3:15, "And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body.  And be thankful."  Jaret's teacher said that he is quick to show others through his words and actions ways they have benefited his life and that he truly knows how to make others feel valued and important.  She believes that it is clear that Jaret does not take the ones he cares for or the many blessings in his life for granted and that he has a grateful heart.  I couldn't agree with her more and am so thankful for wonderful teachers who take the time to get to know the students they teach.  Jaret has been so blessed by the teachers who have touched his life.
I love you Jaret and I am so proud of the boy you are and the boy you are becoming!  Indeed you have a grateful heart and you are so caring and compassionate!
