From the lips of babes...

I have posted before about the things my children say but had to do post again. This will likely not be the last post of quotes either. They say things that you just want to capture and remember for years. Kirra wished me a "Happy Best Friends Day!" and then told me that I was her very best friend as she gave me a big hug. Out of the blue, Kirra will often interrupt me with, "Mommy?" Her tone makes you think she has something really important to say and then she simply states, "I love you sooo much, Mommy!" That one really melts my heart. As I was tucking Kirra one night before I went to bed, I just stared at her sleeping for a few minutes then kissed her good night. She opened her eyes and smiled at me as she said, "Thanks. That was nice, Mommy." And she then went right back to sleep. While visiting the pet store, Jaret saw a hedgehog. As he pointed it out to me he exclaimed, "Ahhh, cute. Look, Mom, a porkelypine." A lady nearby also heard and laughed out loud. Jaret informed Terry and I last month that he is saving all his money up so that he can buy a castle one day. Then he was thinking about how big that castle would be and told us that it would take lots of time cleaning it. "So, instead of marrying just one girl, I think I need to marry lots of wives so that they can help me keep all the rooms clean. And then I will have lots of children too and they can keep the house clean." Yeah, not going to happen Jaret. On the topic of marriage...Jaret has decided that he wants to marry a girl named Peyton. Peyton is my friend Kelli's oldest daughter. Peyton is 8 and she and Jaret have always hit it off. I mentioned this idea to Peyton on our recent trip where we stayed a couple of nights at Kelli and Kenton's house. Peyton just got all shy and kind of laughed. Later that morning as Jaret and Peyton were playing iPad, Peyton told Jaret, "I don't think it will happen." That hasn't discouraged Jaret though. He gets quite devastated over thoughts of Peyton marrying someone else. So, if you were 6 and in love, what would you do? Well, you would have a lemonade stand to raise money for an engagement ring for your girlfriend! Aside from the money going into his savings for a ring, he is also donating some to Noah Epp. Noah, a former student of mine who is entering Grade 10, recently rode his bike from Calgary to Vancouver to raise money for pediatric cancer. Jaret wanted to do this as a tribute to our friend Matthew in Australia who is fighting cancer.
