Kirra's Third Birthday

Kirra is THREE! We had a Dora themed birthday for her on Saturday. Like Jaret, she kept counting down the days to her birthday. She was so excited about the cupcakes and the friends that would come to help her celebrate. It was a smaller party than planned as some couldn't make it. Kirra was sad that Grandpa couldn't make it (busy studying for his American Academy of Impant Dentistry Fellowship exam next weekend in Chicago). She was also sad that Brett couldn't make it. She said to Grandma, "I am sad that Brett can't come to my party because I love Brett." We kept the party short and sweet. It was a simple little party. The kids played in the basement and then we played a Dora game where the kids got to pin the flower bracelet on Dora's wrist. We sang "Happy Birthday" and ate cupcakes. Opened presents and then they played some more. We are so appreciative for all the friends who came to celebrate with us. We feel so blessed and have a very happy girl who enjoyed her Dora birthday. As I tucked Kirra in last night, I told her I couldn't believe she was going to turn three tomorrow. She looked at me like I was totally out of the loop and simply replied, "Mommy, what are you talking about? I turned three at my birthday party today. I am already three." Then as I gave her good night kisses, I whispered, "Good Night, My Still Two Year Old. Sleep Tight. I love you, Little Lady. Good Night." To which she took offense, "I am not a lady! I am a big girl now." Today is Kirra's actual birthday. We spent the morning doing some packing around the house to prepare for our upcoming move. During this time she played with her new toys from her birthday. She loves playing with her new Dora bus, McDonald's cash register (always asking us if she can take our order), and her Calico Critters Playhouse. In the afternoon, we went to Chinook to do a little shopping. The kids also rode the Merry-Go-Round which is always a highlight at Chinook. Afterwards, we went out for supper to Earl's to celebrate Kirra's Birthday. It was a wonderful day! So proud to see this little girl growing up into such a friendly, caring girl who is full of compassion. She has such a full personality and she really shines. It is such a blessing to be Kirra's Mom and I feel so much joy being called, "Mama" by this precious girl. My heart is full. Happy Birthday, Sweetheart!
