We head to Canmore late Friday afternoon. We checked in at the Grand Rockies Resort where we had two suites that joined at the entrance. The suites were really nice and so spacious for a family weekend away. After settling in, we went for supper at Murietta's Grill. The kids were excited to get back to the resort so that they could spend as much time as possible in the pool, and so we did. It was hard to pull them away from the pool when the time came. Once the kids were settled in bed, we enjoyed some wine and played cards until late.
Saturday morning after breakfast, the guys were on their own with the kids as Shea and I had the spa booked. We were booked in for the morning for a massage, mani, and pedi. It was so nice to spend some time getting spoiled. Once we were done it was back to the room to help relieve the guys of their parenting duty. We went out for lunch, drove to Banff to walk around for a bit, and then back to the resort for more swimming. The pool area was really well set up and so it was easy to spend lots of time there with all the kids. There was a paddling pool area with a little slide so it kept Ev and Kirra happy. The big pool was a hit with McKinley and Jaret as it had a waterslide. The boys couldn't get enough. And there was also a hot tub close to both pools with a section inside and an outdoor portion to the hot tub. It was wonderful. After close to 2 1/2 hours, we finally dragged the kids out of the pool. We wondered how long they would go if we just let them keep going. Perhaps until the resort staff kicked us out at closing. We all had fun!
With so much pool time, the kids were tired out and they fell asleep in no time what so ever. Before Jaret went to bed he said, "So, now it is time for us to go to bed so you can all have your wine party." Cute - wine party. Yeah, something like that. We did enjoy a glass of wine and more cards over room service.
Jaret had ski lessons the next day so he and Terry, and Mark and McKinley drove to Nakiska for some skiing. Shea and I had breakfast, checked out, and then spent some time in Banff shopping before we headed to the hill to meet the boys. It was a wonderful weekend!
