We have had a wonderful year ~ full of many blessings. We started off the year on a trip with my family to Mexico. We had never been and enjoyed staying at an all inclusive resort near Peurto Vallarta. Jaret, being the fish that he is, spent most everyday in the pool with his cousins.
In March Terry and I took a trip to Maui, just the two of us. My Mom came and stayed with the kids while we were gone which was very much appreciated. It was wonderful to enjoy the sunshine and lazy days of getting up when we wanted just to laze by the pool and read, snorkel at Black Rock, or take a drive and explore the island. It was wonderful! We enjoyed Maui so much that we are planning to surprise the kids with a trip there just after Christmas!
I took a few other trips this year as well. San Fran for Hoopla with Stella & Dot in July. Had such a great time! I am really enjoying being a stylist, but still have a passion for teaching as well. And then November I took a cruise to Cabo with my parents to celebrate Daryl & Leanne's 30th Anniversary. It is hard to believe that so many years ago I was their flower girl.
The summer allowed for all of us to spend time with family and friends in Saskatchewan. Terry's nephew had a baby boy and Terry's brother and wife celebrated their 25th Anniversary, both good reasons to visit family in Humboldt. Then the kids and I spent over a week with my family in Regina, with Terry joining us for a weekend. The kids enjoyed the chance to have so much time with their cousins and I was grateful for time to catch up with family and friends.
The kids are doing well. Jaret is now 6. He finished Junior Kindergarten last June and was so excited on the last day when he received his Bible Memory Medal. He is now in Kindergarten and wishes everyday was a school day. We'll see if he still feels that way in a few years! He loves his teacher, his friends, and especially loves recess. He played t-ball in the summer with Terry coaching. And this fall he took swimming and skating lessons. He is looking forward to getting out skiing again this winter.
Kirra is now 2 1/2 and likes to try to keep up with her brother. She adores him and loves to mimic him and do what "Brudder" does. She is pretty good at keeping up to him too and loves to wrestle him and chase him around. Kirra is well-behaved but does have a bit of a stubborn side to her. I think it is the princess coming out in her. One day Terry said something about her being a big girl and she responded with, "No, I'm not a big girl. I am a princess, Daddy." I know, you're thinking what we were thinking - here comes trouble. We do feel blessed by our children and are so grateful for the way they have enriched our life.
Terry continues to work at the University of Calgary for the Faculty of Kinesiology. He is the Director of Finance and has also taken a broader role with the university's financial services. All of this keeps him more than busy. Many days are long and the work then continues long into the evening when the kids are in bed. He really enjoys the people he works with but sometimes it would be nice to have a down time.
And that has been the kind of year it has been. We feel blessed in so many ways, including you - our friends and family. Merry Christmas to all of you! May you feel God's richest blessings on your life this Christmas Season and in the year ahead!
