Sunday afternoon was time to watch some football with the Rider's playing the Bomber's in the Labor Day Classic. I watched it on my own but the kids still got in the spirit with wearing their Rider gear. Terry was not in the picture since he was wearing his Texas Longhorns golf shirt. He is a fan of the NFL and is also now getting into College Ball. While I watched the game, Terry took the kids to a park. Kirra then fell asleep on the way home and napped while Jaret set up a lemonade stand. He had fun with that and did quite well. He sold pink lemonade, some candy (Cars popping candy) and then sold fruit snacks to Kirra - right from our pantry. He knows his market as he knew Kirra would not eat the popping candy. He loved doing his lemondae stand and was quite the salesman; asking me once I was done my lemonade, if I would like to buy another glass. An entrepreneur in the making.
Monday we got up and headed toward the mountains. We had lunch in Canmore and then drove to Grassi Lakes for a hike. We took the easy way up which was a gradual change in elevation. The path was wide and easy to take. When we got to the top, we saw some mountain climbers climbing a nearby mountain and there were some beautiful glacier ponds. We explored the area and then stopped to have a snack. On the way down, we chose to take the moderate path. This path was narrow and was very steep and rocky in sections. Toward the end it plateaued and was a little easier. Terry had Kirra in the backpack and she just took it all in. Jaret is a little hiker and loves being in the mountains. There were a few times he felt tired so he would stop and ask me to give him some more power. I would then pretend to be recharging him so he had enough power to continue on the journey. He also didn't like if we held his hand or tried to help him. He wanted to show how independent he was and how good of a hiker he was all on his own. And he really was! It was a perfect day to enjoy the majesty of the mountains!
