Jaret's First Day of Kindergarten

Jaret started Kindergarten today. He was so excited! We had stopped into the school last week when I had some teaching stuff to prep. While there, we went and poked our heads into his class and said hello to his teacher who was also there prepping. Everyday after that, Jaret kept asking if he could go to school and help Mrs. Pomeroy get the classroom ready. And then he kept asking, "Do I get to start school tomorrow, Mommy?" Oh the excitement of starting a new school year - the kids feel it (maybe not all kids) and the teachers feel it too.
Jaret was so proud to start school today. Kirra on the other hand, seemed a little concerned that her brother was going off to school without her. She did fine at the dayhome without her big brother but was asking for him the minute I picked her up.
Upon entering the classroom, Jaret had to find his name and he had an activity in front of him to complete, which he did with Dad's help. Then he said good-bye to Dad and Mom read him a story on the carpet. Once the story was over, it was time for the day to start with circle time so Jaret and I said our good-byes and I was on my way.
Jaret was glad to see some of his friends from last year and made a new friend. At the end of the day, Mrs. Pomeroy thanked him for being such a kind friend to others. Jaret liked going on a tour of the whole school and he saw where the library had been moved. He was thrilled that they got to go out for recess - his favourite part of the day. It will be a fantastic year for him!
