Terry's parents arrived for supper on Friday night and we decided to celebrate Kirra's birthday at Montana's. Now that Kirra is 2, she has also decided she is mostly too old to sit in a high chair and likes to sit on her own chair, like a big girl. Kirra was quite mesmerized when the waiters came to our table to sing "Happy Birthday" to her. Jaret enjoyed wearing the special antlers as Kirra didn't want anything to do with wearing them.
Saturday was Kirra's Princess themed birthday party. We had Terry's parents, the Schulz's, and the Tysdal's. It was kept small and intimate. The kids played in the basement while the adults ate the food and visited. The kids didn't need to be called twice when it was time to come up for cupcakes or to open the gifts. Kirra enjoyed her cupcakes and was a little spoiled with gifts. Thank you everyone for the gifts but more importantly, for being a part of Kirra's special day and celebrating with us. Kirra can't wait to get on her new bike that Grandma Nettie and Grandpa Geoff got her. She won't be able to do much but sit on it and be pushed around but she is eager to try to be like her big brother.
With Terry's parents here for the weekend, we decided to take in the new Calgary Farmer's Market. The Market closed at the Currie Barracks and just reopened last weekend at their new location. Their new facility is great! They have a cute little play area for the kids. The food in the food court is fantastic! They do seem to have less room for vendors then they had but the still have many of the same great stalls to shop at. My favourite is Kabloom that has a great spot right by the front door with more room than at their former location. I bought a bunch of pussy willows there on the weekend for a vase I have. The pussy willows take me back to my childhood when my Grandma Mary would take us for a walk to the Souris Valley grounds where we would cut our own pussy willows each spring. Now I have my own that will bring back those memories for me whenever I look at them.
It was a full weekend and also a weekend that marks history in the making. I had taped hours of footage of the Royal Wedding and really enjoyed watching the ceremony. It was a romantic wedding with hopes of 'Happily Ever After.'
