The Remebrance Day long weekend, the kids and I went to Regina and Saskatoon. The drive to Regina was the worst I had ever experienced. The roads were good until about Pense (35 kms outside of Regina). At that point, the roads were pure ice. Everyone had slowed to about 40-50 kms an hour. After about 10 kms of traveling so slowly, vehicles were lined up due to a semi sitting sideways on the highway. After sitting for 45 minutes, I decided to go around the semi in the ditch. But, when I got to the other side, I found more traffic backed up due to a multi-vehicle collision. After waiting on the highway again, I spoke with an RCMP officer who directed me back to Pense and the back roads that would take me to Regina. It was slow going all the way to my parents. But, we made it safely in the end. God was definitely watching over us as we traveled. We spent a couple of short days in Regina and then traveled to Saskatoon to the weekend. My mom came along and babysat the kids on the Friday night so I could do a show for my girlfriend, Kelli. It was so fun and great to have a night hanging out with my girlfriends - while working at the same time. Stella & Dot doesn't even feel like working and yet I am doing really well. From that show, I even signed a new stylist to my team. The kids and I enjoyed our visit to SK but it was too short to really spend quality time with anyone. Hopefully our next visit will allow for more visiting.
Last night we just arrived back from a trip to Palm Springs. We had such a fun time with our friends - Mark, Shea, McKinley, and Everett. We rented a condo from a partner through Mark's office that had space enough for all of us. Although the weather was cool (+19 C), it was warmer than here so we aren't complaining. The boys did get swimming one day at the condo and Jaret was so proud of swimming (with the noodle) from one end of the pool to the other. We also took in some Black Friday shopping at the outlets on my birthday. It was a full day of shopping so we ordered in that night but enjoyed cheesecake to celebrate. Saturday we enjoyed the market and a little more shopping. Sunday, we drove out to visit Terry's parents in Yuma. We had never been to visit them there before so it was nice to see where they make their home for 6 months of the year. Terry and Nettie took Jaret swimming for the afternoon while, Kirra slept and Geoff and I watched the Grey Cup game. The game did not end as we had hoped but it was fun being able to watch it. Monday was a big day as we all spent the day at LegoLand. Jaret proved even more that he is a little daredevil. He was tall enough to go assisted on almost all the rides. His favourite - the roller coasters, especially The Dragon. Kirra also enjoyed a few rides. I am not one for rides and usually get sick. However, I did go on a couple of rides. Beetle Bounce was a ride that bounces you and none of us could control how much we laughed. Technic Coaster was one that had a couple of falls but also had a part at the top that snaked so much you thought the car was going to plummet right off the track. I was bribed a bit to go on this one - we'll see if I get my Pottery Barn gift certificate out of it! It was a fun day!
Outside of some of the recent traveling, life has been busy with work for Terry and I. Terry is working on year-end budgets and I have finished report cards and preparing for Parent Teacher Interviews to come next week. Stella & Dot has also been busy but so much fun! Jaret is loving school and was disappointed to not go today but he has been sick with quite a cold and I didn't feel he should share that around. The extra rest did him well today. Kirra has been a concern lately. We have had her to see our family doctor who referred us to a pediatrician who has since ordered an EEG. Kirra has been having some episodes that seem like fainting but when they come on more severe seem more like seizures. I am thankful for the EEG tomorrow as she had a really bad episode today. If it hadn't been for our appt. tomorrow afternoon, I would have taken her directly to Children's Emerg. this afternoon. Hoping that we will get some answers so we can start preventing these episodes from occurring. Please pray for her and the doctors.
