Things to be Thankful for...

With Thanksgiving just behind us, we have so much to be thankful for...
We enjoyed a wonderful weekend with Terry's family in Humboldt. It was a long drive there and home but worth the time spent with family. We drove on Friday and stopped in Saskatoon, just long enough to have supper with Sean and Ruth and their children at Fuddrucker's. It has become our tradition to stop there on our way through to enjoy a good burger. When we arrived in Humboldt, we got Jaret and Kirra into bed. Jaret loves sleeping on the bunk beds so he had no problem crawling into the top bunk and falling asleep. And Kirra did fall asleep, after an unexpected bath. As I was changing her into pj's, she threw up, therefore requiring the bath. What a way to arrive at someone's house. It was odd, as she didn't seem sick and was just fine afterwards, even sleeping through the night.
Saturday we took it easy and just hung out around Humboldt. We went down to A-Line Furniture to visit with Kim and Justin while they worked and walked to the mall to check things out. Jaret and Kirra also enjoyed time at the park with Grandma and Grandpa.
Sunday the family got together, including Grandma Wiebe and Aunt Elsa and Jen. We had our big turkey meal at 1:00 and then visited as we laid around the house, we were all too full to do much else. That is, with the exception of Jaret, who convinced Justin and Terry to play football in the backyard. The weekend was so beautiful that it was fun for him to enjoy the time outside.
Monday we made the long journey back; the kids traveled well and even slept a bit of the way home.
Today, Terry and I were back at work and the kids were at Nighat's. However, Terry wasn't feeling well most of the morning and was on his way home when he got a panicked call from Nighat. EMS had been called as Kirra had bumped her head while playing "Ring Around the Rosy" and had seemingly passed out. Terry called me and we both met at Nighat's. EMS had already left and Kirra was fine by the time we got there. It is something that has happened a few times now. Kirra will get worked up and begin to cry. She will cry to the point that she stops breathing long enough to pass out - becoming limp and unresponsive. I recall this happening a few times with Jaret (although not as severe) and when I took him to the doctor, I was told that this does sometimes happen and it is nothing to worry about. And so it was with Kirra today. It is very scary at the moment but then passes and one would never know that anything had ever happened. We are thankful that Kirra is okay. And feel so blessed for Nighat and Fatima and the care they give Jaret and Kirra each day. We appreciate the way they handle situations with our children and are grateful for their family.
I feel so very blessed in my life and have so much to be thankful for...
-family - my loving husband, Terry and my two beautiful children, Jaret and Kirra
-friends - near and far - those who I see regularly and those who I don't see regularly but time or distance does not change our relationship
-church home - Foothills Alliance Church
-faith - that gives me a stronghold and carries me through
-God's grace and love
-teaching position - loving half-time, the Grade 5 students I teach, and the staff I work with
-new venture with Stella & Dot - it is so much fun and a perfect fit for my life
-good health
I am grateful each and every day for the blessings in my life. Thank you to each of you for being part of that!
