Cold Season

Cold season sums things up - the cold has hit us hard once again and Jaret has also developed a chest cold over the weekend. We were so spoiled with some warm winter temperatures and now that winter has hit again, we are just not prepared. With the cold weather and Jaret coming down with a cold, we took it really easy this past weekend. In fact, Jaret and I stayed in all weekend and if anything was needed, Terry went out for it. It was a very relaxing weekend - full of rest. Jaret enjoyed playing around the house. One thing he likes to do is take the trains from our game Ticket to Ride and play with them. He had Daddy spell his name with them and we also made circle patterns with them that he played in. A highlight of the weekend was baking banana bread. Jaret really likes to be in the kitchen and help with whatever he can get his hands on. He is regularly pulling his chair up to the island and asking to see what we are doing and seeing how he can be of assistance. The banana bread that we made was the best yet. Jaret's favourite part of the whole experience though was licking the spoon when we were finished.
Monday came quickly and Jaret only spent part of the day at Nighat and Fatima's as he wasn't feeling great and some Mommy tlc was necessary. That evening, Terry's brother Kim came for a brief overnight visit. He was here to pick up his trophies from the hunt he and Jackie had been on in Africa last spring. He was looking forward to picking up all the animals and has a place in mind for each one.
Today Jaret and I started out early as I had an ultrasound appointment first thing. I brought Jaret along to get a sneak peek of his baby sister. He has taken great interest in my growing belly. He likes feeling when the baby moves, kissing his baby sister through my belly, and talking to her - always ensuring he gets up real close so she can hear. His attention span wasn't real long during the ultrasound but he did see some of the pictures and was well behaved. The technicians were checking my placenta for clots. They didn't find any and said that the placenta is doing the job it should. They checked the fluid levels and it seems everything is "topped up." The doctors were concerned about the size of the baby but she is measuring at exactly 30 weeks and is just abouve the 50th percentile so all is good. After the ultrasound, the technician directed me to the consulting room to meet with the doctor. Right away I had my guard up and was concerned as to the news I was going to get, but she just wanted to meet with me to go over the results - all of which were very positive. God is good and we feel so blessed for this miracle of life that seems to be growing healthy and strong - even if she is on the petite side - like mother, like daughter.
