Pony Ride

By Friday we were looking forward to the weekend as the week, although a short one, seemed quite long. Neither Terry or I felt like cooking, and Jaret wasn't offering. Instead, after a trip to the library when I picked Jaret up, he announced that we should go out for supper. I wasn't going to argue, so we went to Charlie Chan's for supper. We came home and since it was already quite late, got Jaret into bed.
On Saturday, Jaret didn't seem totally himself. He and Terry went to Tim Horton's and when they got home, we decided to drive down to Spruce Meadows and check out the Masters. Terry's nephew, Justin, and Justin's girlfriend Vanessa were staying with us for the weekend. Justin had bought Vanessa tickets for grad so that they could take in the Masters events. It was a busy place with people from all parts of the globe taking in the events. We watched some of the jumping but it didn't hold Jaret's attention for long. Afterwards he kept saying, "We went to Spruce Meadows and there was horses jumping on the grass." From the interpretation of a toddler. I've included one of the better action shots I got. It's of one of the Dutch riders, kind of appropriate since we visited there this summer. Jaret also had a chance to pet some horses and take his first pony ride. He liked it, but true to himself, looked quite serious most of the time he was riding around. I got a good smile from him at the end though. Before we left Sprue Meadows that day, we took a little train ride. Jaret loves trains so it was lots of fun for him. We came home for supper and spent the remainder of the weekend around the house. Jaret seemed to be running a bit of a fever on Saturday night and did not sleep well, which in turn meant we didn't sleep well. Finally on Sunday he said, "Mommy, what's happening in my mouth?" Sure enough, two top molars were finally making their appearance. So, it all made a little more sense. Times like this we take advantage of Jaret being a little more cuddly.
And that was our weekend, nothing too exciting. Our week has started off well as Jaret is doing much better with teething. We took him to Aidrie last night and he and Terry went swimming. Jaret is really doing well in the water and getting very brave. We have registered him for swimming lessons this fall. These lessons will start as parented classes and then progress to unparented. I am interested to see how he will do with this.
Hope that the week goes well for each of you and that the weekend doesn't seem so far off. I think we all could agree that weekends seem to take so long to get here and then fly by much too quickly.
