Friday upon arriving home, Terry's parents arrived in Calgary. Terry, Jaret and I met them at their hotel and went out to Earl's for supper. We always like going to Earl's, or Eeerl's as Jaret likes to call it. We went back to the hotel and went in the swimming pool. Jaret loves swimming so much that we never pass up an opportunity to take him. Grandpa Geoff thought he would get a laugh out of Jaret by jumping in the pool with all of his clothes on. But, Jaret is a a follow the rules boy who likes things to be done the way they are supposed to be done. As far as he was concerned, jumping in the pool with all your clothes on is not how the world works. He was very serious about this as he told Grandpa not to do that again.
Saturday Terry and his dad went golfing in Sundre while Terry's mom hang out here with Jaret and I. I went out for a couple of hours to run errands and get groceries to afford Grandma some one on one time with her Grandson. They played, mostly inside as it was very hot. Once outside, Jaret stayed in the pool mostly and then came in for a nap. Nettie and I got things ready for supper as we were having a bbq for Terry's parents, his aunt Elsa, uncle Larry, and his cousin Dustin and wife Rachelle. It was a beautiful and calm evening, perfect for a bbq. And the salmon turned out really well, which was a relief to me.
Sunday we were up early to drive to Panoroma. Terry golfed Greywolf with his dad, Uncle Larry and a friend of Larry's, Ross. Nettie, Elsa, and I were looking forward to enjoying an afternoon by the pool with Jaret. We took our time having a nice lunch on the deck overlooking the golf course while watching the guys tee off. By the time we got back to the hotel we visited for a short while and then the thunder started. It was still hot and very muggy and we hoped to go to the pool. However, because it was an outdoor pool, it was closed due to the thunder. We spent the afternoon playing with Jaret on the deck of the hotel. Jaret enjoyed watching the helicopters that kept flying overhead, dropping water on treed areas of the mountains that were probably hot spots or the beginning of forest fires. When the guys were finished their golf game we headed to the pool. It was a disappointment though as Jaret was not allowed down the waterslides - just short to go himself and they don't allow adults to hold a child on their lap when going down. Jaret was very disappointed and didn't even want to be in the pool then if he couldn't go on the slide. He is stubborn (much like his parents). Once he has an idea in his mind, there is no changing it - at least not without tears and a bit of a fight. When I questioned the lifeguards about this rule, their response was they have the rule due to guidelines from the manufactuer of the slides. "Really?" I pushed them further. Then the other said something about it being a BC law. Yeah, whatever. So basically they have a rule but make up excuses as to why they have the rule because they really don't know. It was a disappointing end to the day. We began the long drive home and got in around midnight. On our way home though, we saw the sun setting over the mountains and it was so amazing. God's perfect painting with a palette of colours that cant't even be captured on film. There ends a very exhausting last couple of days.
