Kirra wasn't sure she would try out for the Christmas Concert but in the end, got the script and fell in love with a character so she decided to try out. Before the try outs, we talked about not getting too attached to the character she wanted because it may not necessarily be the part she would be cast for. It was a good thing we had that talk because she landed a part that was perfect for her. Practices started a couple months ago and Kirra loved every minute of it. She even had her friends over a couple of times to practice their dance for the concert. As the evening of the concert arrived, Kirra grew more and more excited. And then about three days before, she grew more and more nervous.
The rehearsal day went well but was also exhausting for the cast. Kirra seemed ready when the evening came but then seemed a little subdued, going off by herself before the show started. Her drama teacher noticed and went over to pray for her and encourage her and that is all it took to help her gain her confidence. Although she was a little nervous still, she stepped on stage with a smile on her face and she rocked it! I couldn't have been more proud of her. She had so much fun up on stage and all the hard work paid off. It was one of the best productions our school has put on. Well, maybe I am a little biased. Although, I did hear so many people say how much they enjoyed the evening and also thought it was one of the best.
Kirra played Brianca, leader of the Dasher Dancers who perform "a spectacular new routine" at "Tinsel Mania." As more and more goes wrong, the "Tunies" learn that Christmas is more than the, "Razzle dazzle surrounding Christmas that is so important. It is what God did a Christmas that we need to remember." God gave us the greatest gift when He sent Jesus into a dark and broken world. At Christmas we remember His Gift of Light - the Saviour of the World.
What an important message for us all to keep in mind this Christmas Season. Another spectacular Christmas Concert that helps us all get into the Christmas Spirit.
