Saskatchewan - Part One

Fifty years is a lot of years and a milestone to be celebrated when you have dedicated your life in marriage to your true love.  Our family enjoyed being able to celebrate Mom and Dad on July 1st, which aside from Canada Day is also Mom's birthday.  Friends and family gathered in Humboldt at Kim and Jackie's where a backyard BBQ was held.  The weather was cool but it didn't rain on us. There was visiting, laughter, good food, and many fond memories, as we reminisced on what the last fifty years have held for Mom and Dad.  We love you both and are glad we could celebrate this special day with you.  Thank you to Kim and Jackie for hosting and for all of those who joined us to celebrate.

Later in the evening, when company had left, our families enjoyed smores around the fire and then took in the fireworks (watching from the golf course and exiting just before the sprinklers turned on). The following day, the boys, Jaret included, went golfing.  This was Jaret's first time golfing, outside of P.E. class.  He had a great time and really enjoyed hanging with family and the golf experience. Hopefully he and Terry can get out a couple more times this summer.  While the guys were golfing, the girls took the younger kids to the park for a bit.  Kirra loved spending time with her younger cousins and was so nurturing and engaged with them.  Before the day was over, we were able to go out to the lake to see how the building of Justin and Vanessa's house is coming along and we finished the day with a family BBQ.

While in the Saskatoon area, as brief as it was, we were able to catch up with some friends.  I saw my girlfriends one evening for supper out.  I just wish we could see each other more often.  It is always so good spending time with them and it passes much too quickly.  I also had a visit with our former neighbours and friends.  The kids didn't want to leave their place - it was just like it used to be - our kids playing in the yard and around the neighbourhood until late in the evening.  As it should be in the summer when you are spending time with friends.  I was able to visit my Grandma Martha, we visited with friends Sean and Ruth and their family, and Kirra was thrilled about the play date at Kinsmen Park with Trinity and Morgan.  She has really missed those girls and they picked up right where they had left off.  The best was seeing Kirra and Morgan run at each other with arms open wide to greet each other with a big hug.  We squeezed in lots during our short stay and then it was off to regina.  That will be the next post though as I am too tired to finish this evening...
