Girl's Getaway to Vegas

I am blessed to have so many wonderful friendships.  I am grateful for the many amazing women in my life.  And I am grateful for a husband who planned a surprise for my 40th.  Not only a surprise party at Vintage Chop back in November, but also a planned getaway with some of my girlfriends from Saskatoon (and stayed home with the kids for the weekend).  With our busy lives as moms and as teachers, we planned for the May long weekend.  Plans didn't work out quite as initially planned since Andrea wasn't able to join us.  Andrea, you were definitely missed.

Sandra and Kelli flew into Calgary on Saturday afternoon where I joined them at the airport to fly to Vegas.  We got there in the evening, checked into our hotel, and headed out for supper together.  Our weekend was about to begin.  Early Sunday morning Neil from Hike This picked us up from our hotel and we drove to Red Rock Canyon.  It was an amazing hike!  We loved the adventure of the rock scrambling as Neil took us on some of the back trails not hiked by the average hiker.  The day was perfect with a slight breeze, clear blue skies, and temperatures around 26 degrees.  The hike was challenging and so much fun.  We were in awe of the climbing we did and enjoyed taking in the magnificent views.  Each of us would definitely say this was the highlight of our weekend.  If you are ever in Vegas, I would recommend contacting Neil and setting up a hike.  I would do it again in a heartbeat.  Once we returned to the hotel, we spent some time by the pool before getting ready for the evening.  We had a wonderful supper at PF Chang's and then took in Beatles Love Cirque du Soleil. It was a fun day full of fun!

Monday we took our time getting up and then headed to the pool to soak up the sun.  The afternoon was spent shopping, and shop we did!  That evening we got dressed up and went out for a fancy supper at Morels.  We were a little shocked at the price of a glass of wine.  Prices for a glass started at $24US so Sandra and I decided a bottle might be a better choice.  We had a delicious meal and enjoyed one another's company.  And with that, the weekend was over as we flew home Tuesday.  I am grateful for the time we had to catch up with one another and felt truly blessed by our weekend together.  So girls, let's start planning the next...

Pics of the hike - it was difficult not to include more

Finished the hike but felt like we could have conquered even more!

These ladies bless me each time I am with them.  Through our easy conversation, the way they challenge me to see things differently, their positivity, and the desire they have to be better and make the world a better place.  I love you, Ladies!  Thanks for the time spent together.
