Spring Break

We are fortunate to get two weeks for Spring Break and I love the time off to spend with the kids - most days.  Toward the end of Spring Break I think the kids would agree that they were ready to get back into the routine of school.  And I was ready as well.

After Easter, the kids and I traveled to Regina to spend time with my family.  We had some great weather and the kids were busy each day with a new activity.  It was kind of cute because they made a game of it. We chose three activities to do and then the kids asked me to theoretically choose which door the activity would be hidden behind. Then each night, they would choose a door to reveal the activity.  The first day the activity that was revealed was swimming.  Justine and some of her friends joined the kids for swimming which meant I got a break from having to go into the water.  The second day, we went to Zootopia.  It was a cute movie but there was one point where Kirra held a little more tightly to my hand and Jaret whispered, "I can't believe this movie is rated G.  It should be rated PG."  The third day the kids enjoyed jumping around at Boomer's Air Park.  It was nice to spend time with family.  During our stay, we also went out for lunch to Rock Creek which the kids love and it is right close to Grandpa Greg's dental office so that was convenient for our dental appointments.  Jaret also spent some time on Grandma and Grandpa's piano and learned to play a song by heart.

Jaret diving - he has gotten really good with his form and he loves the water.

Time to bounce like Kangaroo's at Boomers.

Once we got home from Regina, we still had a week of holidays.  We did a number of things during that week:
-baseball practice
-walk along the river
-bike ride - well, the kids biked as I jogged
-organizing around the house and yard - but there is still more to do - always...
-play dates
-Flying Squirrel Air Park - where Kirra rolled over on her ankle - not a fun way to end Spring Break
-Farmer's Market
-Starbucks/Chapters

Trees are budding - Spring is here

We found pussy willows!  I remember going for walks as a young girl with my Grandma Mary and finding pussy willows in the spring down by the Souris River.

It was a beautiful day to stand at the water's edge and throw rocks into the river.

Kirra picked this bouquet of crocuses for me while on our bike/jog.  So sweet!

A pretty swollen ankle.  This is the next day.  Likely another sprain.

Mac and Cheese from Margarita's Dishes at The Calgary Farmer's Market.  The only way the kids can get the recipe is to work in the kitchen we've been told.  Always a favourite.

Kirra with her new friend Ming.  She is growing up and started reading Freckle Juice all by herself this afternoon - so we had to buy the book.

We have been so blessed by a relaxing and quiet Spring Break.  And now with classes starting tomorrow, it is back to routine for all of us.  But the time spent with family was worth every second and it is the joy of these moments together that makes it all worth it.
