Jaret has really been missing his friend, Ethan and has been counting down the days until their visit. They planned an Alberta vacation, in Canmore, for their summer holidays and Jaret was quite disappointed that we weren't visiting them on their very first day here.
We drove out to Canmore to visit Shane, Michelle, Ethan, Ava, and Garrett. With the weather being so hot, we decided to hang out at the outdoor pool at their resort and spend the afternoon. We then had supper at Silver Tip Golf Resort which is always a beautiful setting. One thing we love about eating there, is the good food and the spaciousness to the side of the outdoor patio that allows the kids to play. As the adults were visiting and catching up, the kids continued to play and play and play. Shane mentioned how he loves that the kids just picked up where they left off and that they were having so much fun. I totally agree.
Our deck is almost finished and so this past weekend we had some friends over for a bbq. It was a wonderful evening with perfect weather and visiting. Nice that with having a yard with grass finally, that the kids could play a little bola ball and bocce ball. We look forward to more entertaining in the future.
Some of my recent devotions have been on friendships and the importance of not walking alone. "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the man who falls and has no one to help him up!" ~Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
The devotion from Girlfriends in God talked about the importance of lasting friendships. Friendships that enrich your life and help to grow you. Friendships with others who encourage you and who build you up. I am grateful for friendships like this and I pray for friendships such as these for my children. Friends who will help my children to walk with the Lord and who will hold them accountable for their behaviour as they do life together. I pray that my children will be a positive friend to others. To have good friends, you need to be a good friend. Helen Keller said it so beautifully when she said, "Walking with a friend in the dark is better than walking alone in the light."
