Jaret and Terry had an amazing time on their boy's weekend getaway to Seattle. They were able to attend two Mariner's games. The M's were playing Tampa Bay and up until the Saturday game were on a seven game loosing streak. Ouch - that hurts when you see your team slumping. So, when the Mariner's won their game on Saturday, it was a fun one to be at.
Jaret and Terry arrived early to the game and took in the warm-up and had some ball stadium food. They enjoyed the game and their seats were right down at the field on the first base line. They chatted with the ball girl and all night were waiting for a foul ball to come their way or at least for the ball girl to toss one to them. This didn't happen as things on that side of the field were pretty quiet. In the end, a gentleman a few seats over had a signed baseball (by whom we are not sure) and gave it to the ball girl to give to Jaret. It absolutely made his night. Both nights before the game, Jaret was able to practice his pitching and was able to find out how fast his throw was. Saturday his pitch was clocked at 25 mph and on Sunday he clocked it at 31mph. I must say, although a little biased, he is a good little baseball player.
Sunday before game start there was a parade on the field for Little League Team Day. Jaret loved being on the field and was able to have a bit of a tour from field level of the stadium. Until the evening, he and Terry had no idea but they had made it onto tv. Jaret was watching a replay of the game that evening (after PF Chang's) in the hotel before bed and he noticed Terry on the screen. By the time Terry understood what he was saying and looked at the screen, the image was gone. Terry noted where in the game they were and then when home turned on the old game with MLB, which Terry of course subscribes to. And sure enough, there were Terry and Jaret as the announcers of the game were talking about Father's Day weekend and the giveaway of free hats. I guess that kind of makes them famous. Well, maybe not. But it is pretty cool and Jaret was so pumped about it.
They had a wonderful trip and would like to go again soon. But perhaps with Kirra and I joining them. All in all, it was an excellent weekend of ball and hanging out at Pike's Place and the first Starbuck's ever, where Jaret just so happened to have an iced coffee.
So thankful that Jaret and Terry had the weekend to spend together while visiting Seattle and taking in some ball games. Such great memories being created through moments like that. Jaret still can't stop talking about the trip and would like to move to Seattle to be able to go to ball games all the time. When I asked him what his favourite part of it was, he said, "All of it. It was so much fun."
