Kirra had a fun-filled party and of course wished it didn't have to end. She had lots of friends from school join her to help celebrate. We started with a craft - painting on canvas, some sparkles sprinkled, and then put snowflakes on that we had decorated with some bling. Unfortunately, the paint didn't quite dry in time to get a picture of all the kids with their artwork. I felt a little crazy for organizing painting for a birthday party but the kids enjoyed it. The kids had fun just playing, although with the constant parade from upstairs to the basement, I think they got more exercise on the stairs than actual play time. We had a snack and cupcakes followed by the piñata and a Pin the Nose on Olaf game. The piñata didn't quite go as planned. Each kiddo was allowed to pull a ribbon which then one of the ribbons opens the bottom for the candy to fall out. It seemed to start well as the kids took turns pulling a ribbon but then after a few of the kids had a turn, the next little one decided to try to pull all the strings except for a few. So the last few kids came up to pull the remaining ribbons and when they did…nothing. No candy fell from the Princess Anna piñata. So, Terry had to improvise and rip out the bottom to let the candy fall. It didn't take long for the candy to be collected into the baggies for each one. Right away we knew what Dawson's favourite treat was as he filled his bag with all the Kit Kat bars.
Kirra's favourite part of the her party was having all her friends here to celebrate and the piñata. I guess it just goes to show that even the moments we consider a fail, aren't perceived that way for kids. Birthday parties are fun but I am glad they only happen once a year. Happy Birthday, Sweet Kirra!
