Jaret is in the minors - no more t-ball or coach pitch. It is up to the kids to try out pitching which results in a pretty slow game and lots of kids up to bat getting hit by the incoming ball. I will be praying for safety for him this season, especially after hearing of a friend's son who broke his hand two weeks into the season last year. Terry is coaching with a guy named, Jamie. We had met Jamie and his wife, Erin through my friend Nichole. Small world with Jamie and Terry coaching together. We are looking forward to the season and seeing some skill development, despite how short of a season ball in in Canada. It will be fun!
Kirra had not ever played soccer and was feeling a little nervous before the first game. But after praying with her and kicking the ball around to warm up, she was off and excited to play. She did really well and almost scored a goal. She didn't shy away from the ball but was trying to get in there and unlike a couple on her team, she knew which way she needed to go with the ball to try to score for her team. Way to go, Blackhawks! It was a very cold night (hence the pink coat). Kirra had it in her mind after the game that she needed a Slurpee, all because Jaret had one after his first night of ball this season. Jaret had a much nicer Spring evening for his first night than Kirra did. It was so cold that I couldn't feel my fingers. I dressed warm but next time will be prepared with blankets. So, despite my efforts to get her to opt for Starbucks, we stopped at 7-11 and then straight home to cuddle in front of the fire and read while Kirra enjoyed her Slurpee.
