Terry was so pumped about the Super Bowl since his Seattle Seahawks made it to the finals. What a season they had! We were invited to join Kim and Jackie at their place for the game. The kids were so excited for the day in Humboldt because they would get to play with Jayden and Kaydra and also the puppies, Brandy and Weston. I think that was their highlight of the day. We enjoyed our time watching the game. Terry's highlight of the game was when Percy Harvin returned a kickoff for a touchdown to begin the second half. His lowlight was missing the last two minutes of the game when Kim's dish froze and took time to start up again and since we weren't quite live we missed the last couple of minutes. Thankfully we had recorded the game at home so we watched it when we got home and put the kids to bed. A little anti-climactic but all good. After all, the Seahawks won!! Thanks for having us Kim and Jackie.
We enjoyed the game and cheering on the Seahawks but throughout the game, I felt awful for Peyton Manning. Despite his humiliating loss though, he still proved himself to be the class act that he has always been. A gentleman in the good times and in his lowest. Since the win last night, I have read a couple of articles on Manning's character and how it has stood out throughout his career.
At the end of the game, I thought it was great that Russell Wilson humbly thanked God saying, "God is so good." He explained the inspiration from his Dad and how his Dad used to always say, "Why not you?" Wilson went on to say that it was these words that helped him to believe in himself and the talent that God gave him (even if he was considered small for the NFL). He believed in the team and helped them to ask, "Why not us?" What an inspirational story of the work God can do in our life when we allow Him to. Interestingly enough, we had just watched Joel Osteen on tv earlier in the morning and he was speaking about trusting God to do big things in your life, but only if you pray God-sized prayers and trust Him to fulfill them. I drew a parallel between what Joel was speaking about to how Russell Wilson lives out his life. A great lesson to remember who we are to God and how He cares for us. He cares enough for us to know the desires of our hearts, and answer our prayers in His way and His time - even sometimes if they seem like the impossible type of dream we have been praying about in our life.
Seattle Seahawks 43 - Denver Broncos 8
Way to go, Seahawks!
