Home Is Where The Heart Is...

Home is where the heart is... As we are settling into our new home, I have been reflecting on this familiar saying. My heart really does not feel settled yet and has me thinking about what 'home is where the heart is' means.  What does home mean to you?

Then I was reflecting more on being with my family and with those I love being...well, home and that a house is just a house but making it home means so much more.  It brings to mind a Bible verse from Matthew 6:20-21 "...But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also."  Where your treasure is, that is where your heart will be. I so treasure my faith and the journey I am on and it is that faith that carries me through in all of life's circumstances. I treasure my family and friends and times and memories spent with them.

I feel it is so important to reflect on such thoughts with my heart feeling a little unsettled as we settle in Saskatoon.  I recall moving to Calgary eight years ago and not wanting to leave Saskatoon.  I remember being saddened to leave my colleagues behind at Saskatoon Christian School but I remember being excited anticipating Jaret being born. However, upon moving to Calgary, I knew so few people and was quite lonely during the early days. It wasn't long though and Calgary had become home for us and we met wonderful friends.  I think that is what I am struggling with now, the fact that Calgary was the only home our family of four knew together. And by home, I mean the city since we had lived in a few different houses during our eight years. And now, we have left Calgary and I am saddened to leave my colleagues at Bearspaw Christian School. And it feels different not starting the school year being employed as a teacher or administrator, but by just being MOM.  We have left our home of Calgary and Saskatoon is now home. It has only been just over two weeks since we moved and so I think it is only natural that my heart still isn't feeling settled as we also haven't gotten into routine yet.  And life does come full circle as Jaret will be starting school at SCS next week.  We look forward to new beginnings but are also praying for him to make friends quickly and enjoy his new school.  We are praying the same for Kirra as she will be starting a new pre-school in a couple of weeks time.  We already have the kids enrolled in some activities for the fall and are eager to find a new church home too.  So I am sure it is just a matter of time until the heart feels more settled.  I would appreciate your prayers as well.

I have included some pics of our new home as the pictures are hung and things are organized.  We would really like to extend the invitation to you to come and visit if you are in Saskatoon.
