Colour Me RAD

In the spring, my friend Leesa entered a team of us ladies for the Colour Me RAD 5K for July Long Weekend.  Due to the flood that occurred in Calgary and area at the end of June, the race was postponed to August Long Weekend.  I thought I was going to miss this race as it was the weekend of my 20th High School Reunion.  But with our move and the stress, I just didn't feel that I could make the trip back so decided to participate in Colour Me RAD 2013.  It isn't really a race since it is not timed and is more for fun!
Terry and the kids joined me in the festivities and cheer me on in the run.  We arrived first thing in the morning and it was such a charged atmosphere.  A stage was set up where contest were going on, prizes being given away, and the music was pumping.  Our team was in the first wave at 9:00.  Being at Canada Olympic Park (COP) there was a lot of hill training on the run and it was kind of packed with people but it was fun.  Rachel and I ran together through the course and it didn't quite seem like 5K as it went by so quickly.  I guess running in a pink tutu helps!  When do you ever get to run in a tutu?!  As we ran the course, we ran through the colour stations where you get colour bombed.  So we were head to toe colour by the end of the course.  And if you weren't plastered in colour after the run, you were when you joined the runners at the finish who had their colour packets and all at once opened them up to bomb others in a big crowd.  One of the highlights for me on the course was seeing Terry and the kids half way through, standing at the side ready to give me a high five; it was so encouraging to have them cheering me on.  The kids had so much fun, especially Jaret who kept colour bombing me and got colour bombed himself.  I hope I can come back again next year and have Terry and the kids join me in the RAD race.
Thanks for organizing this for our team, Leesa and thanks for running with me Rach - you kept a great pace.  Love you Girls and will miss you!
