Spring in Calgary

We thought Spring was on it's way, and all the snow had already melted away and then...April 13, it snowed all day.  However, the snow was melting as soon as it hit the ground.  By 4:00 that afternoon, it started to stick.  After the snow fell through the night and during the course of Sunday, it was no longer Spring but Winter again.  Or should I say still?  We thought we might as well make the best of it so we decided to go sledding.  We had so much fun!  Jaret and I raced down the hill countless times.  He won most of the races. There weren't many people as we went later in the day.  With few people on the hill, we didn't have to move out of the way once we got to the bottom of the hill.  Terry and Jaret had fun wrestling each other in the snow while Jaret and I also tried making snow angels.  Kirra went down the hill a number of times with Terry.  But on her last run down, she got a face full of snow and so ended her time on the hill.  You can tell in one picture just how much snow flew up into Kirra's face as you can hardly even see her sitting in front of Terry on the toboggan.  With a park nearby, she opted to spend some time there and leave the tobogganing to the rest of us.  We really enjoyed tobogganing but would rather sled in December, not April.  We are so ready for Spring.
The rest of the weekend was spent indoors due to winter weather.  We have been already looking at houses to decide whether we will build or buy existing.  It seems to be taking up quite a bit of time as we look at different floor plans and prices and check the mls website regularly.  It takes a lot of energy. We look forward to making a decision sooner rather than later.  It will be nice to move into our next home with hopes of staying there for longer than we have in any other home, longer than 3 years would be nice.
The kids enjoy playing with their toys and can occupy themselves quite nicely.  And for the most part they can play well together, when they choose to.  It is such a blessing to watch them together and see them get along so well.  I love how Jaret is so protective of his little sister.  Praying that they will continue to get along well as they get older and become friends.  I feel so blessed!
I hope that in my next post I can share about more Springlike weather - with blue skies and sunshine. I am looking forward to getting outside to run rather than just running on the treadmill.  But the treadmill will have to suffice for the next couple of weeks until the snow melts away.  To hold myself a little more accountable, I have joined a group on facebook to track 100K/month.  It has been good to help encourage me to get moving on days even when I think I would rather cuddle up on the couch.  But, I have yet to register for a 10K.  I will do that before the end of the month - hold me to it...
Happy Spring!
