Wednesday morning I took the kids swimming; always a highlight for Jaret as he loves the water. And to top it off, there was a waterslide. I liked it because I could sit in the hot tub and be close to Kirra in the kiddie pool and have direct eye contact with Jaret going down the waterslide. It was a nice morning for all of us. That was followed by Vietnamese for lunch. Yummy!
Regina doesn't have many Starbucks but they do have one at the south end of the city in the Chapters. We stopped there a few times, including one occasion where Jaret and Kirra got to enjoy story time and make an Easter bunny craft. That as well as Starbucks was fun for them.
Jaret and Kirra enjoyed spending time with their cousins. They played outside in the snow; on a day when it was +5. And Lisa and I sat out on the front step without jackets on, soaking up the sunshine while the kids played and frequently threw snow at us. We coloured eggs for Easter. Took in a movie, seeing The Croods in 3D with Grandma. The kids had fun wearing the glasses and snacking on popcorn during the movie. And ever since then Kirra has been doing an impersonation of one of the characters. It is so cute! One evening my sister, mom, and I went out for supper to Moxie's and shopping afterward while the kids hung out at Lisa's place with their cousins and Trevor holding down the fort. When I went to pick them up, Kirra was ready, and tired. However, Jaret didn't even want to come to the door. When he finally did he begged for a sleepover despite not having even pj's for a sleepover. But, I did give in (quite easily) and he had a great sleepover with Ayden. Special moments with cousins!
Terry flew in on Friday to spend the weekend. My dad was gone the majority of the time at a course in Santa Barbara. He was originally scheduled to get in Saturday night but due to some delays he didn't arrive until Sunday morning which changed our plans for going to church. We ended up have a later brunch. And I only mention this brunch because of the omelets we had. Yes, I am mentioning the omelets because we were a little skeptical when mom mentioned them but the turned out really well. It was an omelet in a bag. Everyone made their own by adding the fixings of their choosing and then we boiled them for 13 minutes and they were delicious. It meant that we could all sit down and eat our omelets together rather than one of us standing at the stove making all those omelets. Very cool! And then of course later in the day, we had a delicious turkey dinner. The next day was the long drive home but mom made us turkey sandwiches and sent enough food that we could enjoy leftovers when we got home. It made the trip go by quick as we only stopped once for gas and once for a bathroom break. And it was so nice to come home and just have to heat up supper. Bonus!
Hope you all had a wonderful Easter as well!
