Trip to Humboldt

We started our Summer Holidays with a trip to Humboldt to visit Terry's family. The morning we got up to leave, Jaret was so excited. It started with him finding a bar of soap from Maui to use while he showered and he was happy that he smelled like Maui and was reminded of being there. He shared this with me as he was showering and then said, "This is the best day, Mom! I get to use soap from Maui. We get to have Fudd's. And we get to see Grandma and Grandpa and sleep in the bunk beds." I love how positive he always is; not at all negative about the 6+ hour car ride to get there. Although, he was excited about eating at Fudd's and perhaps going to Rucker's before heading on to Humboldt. Our time in Humboldt was wonderful. We had a great visit with Terry's parents and his brother and family. We spent lots of time outside as the weather was warm and sunny most days. Jaret and Kirra enjoyed playing many times with Grandma at the park behind their house. Kirra liked the swings and slide. Jaret was on the monkey bars alot but the highlight for him was when Grandma taught him how to pump his legs. An afternoon was spent running through the sprinkler in the backyard and an afternoon at a new spray park. We also celebrated Nettie's birthday while we were there. Kim, Jackie, Justin, Vanessa, and Jayden came over for a bbq. It was a really nice evening with delicious steaks, all the fixings, and of course a birthday cake. It was nice to be able to be there to celebrate with her. With the nice weather we also had a KFC lunch on the deck to celebrate Canada Day. With the nice weather, I got out for a couple of runs, with Terry joining me for one. It was a trip down memory lane for Terry as so many of the houses we passed he would point out and reminisce on who had lived there. I guess I am not the only one who gets sentimental. Terry's parents have sold their home and are going to be moving into a condo in Warman by Christmas time. They will be out of their home by mid-August so it was our last visit to their house which made it a little bittersweet. It will be great to have them just outside of Saskatoon which means less driving for us when we visit. *Wrote after the trip (early July) but not posted until today.
