T-Ball

Jaret is loving t-ball. Today I overheard him talking to Malayna, a little girl that lives in our bay. He was telling her that he can't play long because it will be supper time and then he has to get ready for ball. "And guess what, Malayna, my Daddy is my teacher at t-ball and that is fun." Then tonight at supper he was talking about t-ball. "I like everything about t-ball but the best part is at the end when we do the hip-hip-hooray for the other team, isn't that the best part Dad? Can we do that really loud tonight?"
So thankful that Jaret is enjoying playing t-ball. I took some pictures of their first game. It was so cute to watch all the kids running after the same ball in one big pack. Until that is, Jaret got tripped, trampled, and tackled. A few tears were shed but it was all good when he came off the field for some hugs from Mom and I told him to remind his teammates that they are playing t-ball, not tackle football. It was also cute watching them swing and miss the ball the first few times and then not know what to do with the bat or where to run or when to stop running. All cute when it is a bunch of 4-6 year olds. Cute moments were also seen on the bench when they were sitting with their helmets on and then trying to knock each other (gently) head to head, helmet to helmet; moments of bonding among boys. But, I would agree, the best part was at the end when they were doing hip-hip-hooray and then went and shook hands with the other team. Teaching them when they are young about good sportsmanship.
