Last weekend we had Terry's parents here. They arrived on Friday night, in time to watch the Rider game. The Riders, true to only the Riders, always leave us sitting on the edge of our seat until the very last minute - and then some. As was the case last weekend, when they beat the Stamps in overtime (43-37). It was an exciting game to watch!
The weather was cold and rainy most of the weekend so we stayed indoors mostly. Saturday morning we grabbed our Starbucks and took Terry's parents to the Farmer's Market. We enjoy walking around and seeing what's new and then eating lunch there. Saturday afternoon we hung out around the house while Kirra napped. In the evening, Terry and I were both serving in church and went on our own while the grandparents stayed home to put the kids to bed. When we got home, we played a few games (of which I must let everyone know, the women won!).
Sunday morning we were up early and went for breakfast to Cora's. We got there early enough that we had no wait (unbelievable, I know!). As we were eating, the line grew and grew - as is usually the case. We had a wonderful and filling breakfast. We went out to CrossIron to do some birthday and Christmas shopping. No, I have not started my Christmas shopping. Terry's parents will be in Yuma for Christmas and so they bought gifts for the kids to store away until Christmas. Jaret did get his birthday present early though and had fun playing Hot Wheels with Grandpa and Grandma. Sunday evening we had a nice supper, complete with a Saskatoon Berry pie (made by the Farmer's Market - lol). It was a nice weekend visit.
This past weekend we enjoyed the beautiful, fall weather. It was actually more like summer weather; better weather than we had in the summer. The colours on the trees were so beautiful (we are looking forward to fall photos next weekend). Saturday we took the kids to Calaway Park. We met Natalie, Steve, and Sophie there. It was lots of fun. Jaret was a good, big brother and did his duty by taking Kirra on her first ride. It was one of Jaret's favourite rides when he was little - The Tot Yachts. Kirra reacted much the same as Jaret at that age; she didn't really crack a smile but wanted to go again. Then Jaret, Sophie, Terry, and Steve stood in line for the log ride. It was a long wait (just over an hour) but Jaret and Sophie thought it was well worth the wait. Jaret seems to be over the "little kid" rides and wants to just go on the "big kid" rides. So, Steve took both kids on The Adrenaline Test Zone. Definitely not a ride that I could stomach. Thanks Steve!
Saturday night, Terry took the kids to church while I had a Stella & Dot Trunk Show. It was a fun show for one of the parents from school. With that show, I reached my first stylist reward and earned $500 in free jewelry. I was very excited as I am loving being a Stella & Dot Stylist! I have a number of shows coming up in the next week so will be busy.
Sunday was a quiet day. Terry took the kids out so that I could clean the house. I like having a clean house but maybe this should have been a week I had someone come in to clean - it was too nice of a day to be stuck inside cleaning. Sunday afternoon Terry watched NFL and was happy when the Seahawks won.
The kids are doing well. Jaret is really enjoying Junior Kindergarten. He just wishes that he could be there everyday rather than just twice a week. I love having him come to school with me each Monday and Wednesday and then picking him up to see how his day went. He spends the first bit of each morning with me in my classroom before he goes to his own classroom. He likes drawing on the whiteboard to keep himself busy until it is time for school to start. He also likes seeing my students when they come in each morning.
Kirra is such a happy little girl. She is doing well at the dayhome. She is fine when we drop her off as she goes off to play and so excited when I pick her up at lunch. She knows the drill well and will get her shoes after she gives me a hug and sit down so I can put them on her. Then she gives big smiles to Nighat and waves bye as we leave. Kirra loves to dance, and thankfully has her Mom's rhythm and not her Dad's (lol). She loves dancing/bouncing around to music when it comes on. It doesn't take her long to recognize Lady Gaga on the radio when we are driving in the car. Those songs have such great beat that they really get Kirra dancing. A few weeks back when we were at Mike and Monica's, Lexi and Erika brought down their dance shoes from when they were little. Kirra put on Erika's tap shoes and immediately put her foot out in front of her to tap it on the floor. Oh, you can imagine my excitement as I had an "Awww" moment and delighted over the fact that my little girl will one day be in dance class. Like mother, like daughter.
The week ahead is supposed to be beautiful so we are looking forward to getting out and enjoying fall. Better run as we need to get Jaret to swimming lessons.
