Banff

One of the benefits of living in Calgary is the proximity to the mountains. Today we drove out to Banff. We spent the first part of our day at Bow Falls. Bow Falls is a favourite spot to spend time. I love seeing the waterfall at different times of the year; it is beautiful! It is also fun to let the kids run free on the shore (for the most part, Kirra needs to be held back a little as she would otherwise run straight into the water). Both Jaret and Kirra could spend a whole day there just throwing rocks into the water.
Afterward, we grabbed some lunch and sat on a bench right down by the river's edge and just sat gazing at the rushing water and the majestic mountains that surrounded us. We walked the Banff townsite and went into a few stores. Something that has become a tradition is stopping at The Fudgery, and this trip was no different. Jaret loves being able to pick out any "chlocolate" treat his heart desires. His favourite the last few trips has been the chocolate covered pretzels. I am partial to the chocolate caramels though. And then for the drive back, the trip wouldn't be complete without a Starbucks in hand. It was a wonderful day, and it only rained a little but it was nice walking in the rain that was just a light drizzle. It is amazing how one minute it is raining and the next the sun is shining and all you can see is blue sky. It was another great day spent together in the mountains!
