Kirra's First Birthday Party

We had Kirra's first birthday party this past weekend. We had just a few friends and family celebrate with us on Saturday afternoon. Kirra was down for an afternoon nap when people started arriving but after hearing some of the commotion, she soon woke up. We dressed her in a little party dress, put a barette in what little hair she has, and she was ready for her first birthday party. When she first came down we weren't sure what she was thinking - was she still sleepy or was it hesitation to walk in the new shoes she was wearing. After a brief moment, and checking everyone and everything out, she seemed excited for her party.
She enjoyed playing with her toys upstairs and some of the friends we had over (McKinley, Sophie, and Jacob) played with her upstairs in bursts, but she mainly played on her own and the "bigger" kids played in the basement. They joined the party upstairs, with all the adults, when it came time for opening the presents and cupcakes. Kirra was more than a little spoiled with all the gifts she received. Thank you everyone for your generosity. Kirra is enjoying the new toys (as is Jaret) and the new outfits she received. The kids loved the cupcakes. A gentleman from church who owns a catering company did them - flowers and butterflies. They turned out so well. It was a fun-filled first birthday party for Kirra!
