Our New Home

We have moved into our new home; finally after over a year of dealing with the building process. We got possession on April 6th. Kim, Jackie, and Justin brought our appliances from Humboldt and were here to help move them in. We hired Canyon Pumbling to hook up the fridge, dishwasher, and gas stove. Canyon Plumbing is the company that Centrex (our builder) uses. My Mom arrived on Wednesday (April 7th) and as I was showing her around, she noticed something wrong with the hardwood floor in the kitchen. Sure enough, the dishwasher was leaking. As it turned out, the plumber didn't tighten the connection and it caused damage to our hardwood floor and side of the cupboard. Our site supervisor and the plumbing company came out the next day to assess the damage. It will be fixed next week - at the expense of the plumbing company. I guess no move is without it's issues. There are a couple of other issues that need fixing so I will have trades in and out next week seeing that everything is as it should be.
We moved things a little each week. I also did some painting and some repainting. The feature wall was painted and then repainted to it's original colour. Kirra's room also got painted a soft pink and I am happy with how it turned out.
Saturday was the big moving day. Terry had some help from a few guys and it didn't take them long to move stuff as we had been moving things all week so they just had the large furniture to move.
Settling into the house is taking some time. There is so much to do and I want to get it as organized as possible right from the beginning. Terry has already started a garage sale bin - much to my dislike as I am not a fan of garage sales. However, we do have some things that we no longer need and so I guess Terry will have a garage sale in May sometime.
It does take time to adjust to change and we do miss our neighbours and the old house. But we love the new house and look forward to the memories we will make in the years to come.
