Lots On The Go

Since the last blog post, things have been busy around here. Our house conditionally sold Saturday, March 13th. After a home inspection, conditions were removed last Monday. What a relief to have that burden lifted. We now feel like we can be excited about moving into our new house, with the stress of the sale of this home behind us. Now to think about packing - not sure where to even start...
We have our pre-occpancy walk through on Tuesday morning and then our possession on Tuesday, April 6th - right after Easter. Things should be complete by the time we move in as they were just completing the stonework on the front of the house yesterday. Kim, Jackie, and Justin will be coming from Humboldt on April 5th with all the appliances so that we can move those in the following day. Then we will take the week to do some painting in the house. I would like to paint a couple of feature walls and paint the kid's rooms. We will also move some stuff over a bit each evening. Then the main part of the move will come on Saturday, April 10th. Only 12 sleeps away! I feel like a little kid waiting for Christmas.
What else has been going on around here...
March 15th, Terry and I celebrated 10 years of marriage. We didn't go out to celebrate until Mom and Dad arrived later that week. Dad was staying at a hotel downtown with some gentlemen as he was here to take part in an annual dental curling bonspiel. Mom stayed here with us. We spent time shopping and just hanging out around the house. I was particularly busy on Mom's laptop working on a Memory Book for Jaret's pre-school. While Mom was here, we took advantage of the free babysitting and enjoyed supper at Parkerhouse to celebrate our anniversary. To top it off, Mom had called ahead to take care of the bill for us. Thanks Mom and Dad! We really enjoyed that $625 bottle of wine - just kidding. However, we did enjoy the champagne that was complimentary upon arriving at the restuarant. Hard to believe it has been 10 years.
Yesterday was Jaret's last ski lesson at COP. He did really well in only three short weeks of lessons. He has learned to gain more confidence in skiing and was getting good at turning his way through the obstacle course. It was a busy day as we had a birthday party in the afternoon that we all attended. It was the grand-daughter of Dr. Giles (the Dean that Terry works with at the Faculty of Kinesology). The party was amazing - swimming at a hotel, followed by lots of food, and a visit from a clown who did balloon animals and face painting. Jaret had so much fun going down the waterslide and even did it on his own a number of times. Jaret couldn't wait to get his face painted and this year was a tropical tiger. He was so cute, especially when he kept growling at his sister and all she did was laugh at him! Such priceless moments.
It feels more like spring around here and so we have been spending more and more time outside. Jaret loves riding his bike and can't seem to get enough of it. He is so fast now that he can bike while I walk Kirra in the stroller. We end up at the park lots which has been fun. We are hoping to take his training wheels off sometime soon. He has also grown so much that he needs a new bike. So, if he does really well with a two-wheeler, Terry told him he could get a new bike. But, it would of course have to match Daddy's new bike since Jaret wants to be just like his Daddy. With no pre-school for the next two weeks, I am sure we will be spending lots more time outside.
Kirra is doing great. I am amazed at how happy and content she is. She is eating so much more and loves Mommy's banana muffins. She chatters lots - bababa - so we sing lots of sheep songs so she can sing along. Tonight Kirra brought tears to my eyes as she walked the length of the living room a few times on her own. Wow! She is growing up - much too fast. I am so blessed by my two children.
Well, time to go see what else I can pack.
