Welcome Kirra

We went into the hospital for our scheduled c-section on Wednesday, April 29th. We were there early and in plenty of time for our 10:00 a.m. scheduled time - just in time to wait and wait some more. It was hard just waiting. At one point Dr. Birch (the doctor who delivered Jaret) came to tell us that he would be delivering our little girl. But then as the day went on, emergencies came up and in the end, Dr. Wood (my OB/GYN) ended up delivering Kirra Lauren Lockhart at 2:21 p.m. Things went well and it was such a blessing hearing Kirra's first cry and being able to finally meet her. From there we all moved into the recovery room where Kirra was weighed. She was 21 inches long and 7 lbs. 4.7 oz. It took awhile in recovery as my blood pressure was quite low and they wanted to see that stabalize before moving us. We then were transferred into a semi-private room. Kirra stayed with me in the room the whole time in a bassinet. Right from the beginning she began feeding well and sleeping well. I stayed in the hospital until Saturday due to the soreness, swelling, and bruising I was having from my incision.
It was wonderful seeing Jaret meet his little sister for the first time. He will definitely make a great big brother. He is so gentle with her and likes to hold her, give her kisses, and tell her that he loves her. Terry is so proud and I think Kirra already has Daddy wrapped around her little finger! We couldn't feel more blessed and truly feel that our family is complete.
