Meeting Family and Friends

With a new addition joining our family, we continue to be thrilled to introduce her to our family and friends. Last Friday I took Jaret and Kirra to the school so that the staff could meet Kirra. Jaret was so well behaved. It helped that Joel (our IT guy) spent some time showing Jaret the server room with all the wires and cool lights. I think he is trying to convince Jaret to choose a career in IT early! He also put him in a chair with wheels and gave him a few rides up and down the hallway. Jaret is still talking about that! The meeting with the staff was brief but a few did get to hold her. We'll have to go back one day when the students are in school so that I can introduce her to them as well. Leaving the school that day, we unfortunately got a rock in the windshield. It was pretty serious and although it didn't break through, it did cause glass shards to end up everywhere inside the vehicle, even on the kid's blankets in the back seat and it ruined the windshield. The good news is we were able to get it fixed on Tuesday. The company came right to our house to get the vehicle and then brought it back when it was done. That made it easy on me. I was so grateful that no one was hurt and that the vehicle was fixed in a reasonable amount of time.
Saturday we went to church in the evening. Friends that I know from school were happy to meet Kirra. In fact, the Epp family sat with us and Susie held Kirra during the whole service. Afterwards she commented on how fast they grow up as she just had a 10th birthday party for Hannah. I already understand how fast the years go as it has already gone by much too fast with Jaret. It is a blessing to experience each stage with your children but also hard to see them grow up so fast and become so independent. Following the service, we went to Mark and Shea's for the evening. It was nice to let Jaret and McKinley play for a bit and then put them down to sleep so that we could finally play a game. It had been so long since we had sat around the table playing games and was nice to be able to do that again. What was even better is that the girls did better than the guys at poker!
Sunday Terry and Jaret went to Banff with Mark, Shea, and McKinley for the day. I unfortunately missed out on a day in the mountains as I wasn't feeling well and opted to stay home to get some extra rest. I am glad that I did but disappointed that I missed an opportunity to see Craig Conroy who was having lunch at Earl's with his family in Banff. Jaret had a great time being carried in the backpack to Bow Falls and then spending most of the afternoon throwing rocks in the river.
Monday was an early morning. Terry's Mom and Aunt were flying through on their way to Arizona. We met them at the airport for breakfast so that Nettie could meet Kirra. (I unfortunately don't have a picture of Nettie and Kirra's first meeting but will try to get one to post.) Later that day we were back at the airport to meet my parents as they flew through on the way home from Vancouver. This was the first time that my Dad got to meet Kirra. We enjoyed a nice supper and visit, despite having to keep an eye on Jaret who was getting brave enough to try to go down on the elevator himself. The elevator was just outside the restaurant and Jaret thought it was the perfect way to keep amused while the adults sat and visited - lol.
Our days here have been quiet lately. The weather hasn't been great so we haven't been able to get outside much. It is supposed to get nicer by the weekend and into next week so hopefully summer will be here soon and we can enjoy walks to the park and time playing in the backyard. We are still trying to get into a regular routine but so far things are pretty laid back - which I am enjoying very much!
