We celebrated Jaret's second birthday by going to Applebee's for supper. I'm not sure who enjoyed it more - Jaret because it was his birthday celebration or Mom and Dad because it meant no cooking and having to clean-up afterwards. It was a treat for all of us. Jaret opened a few gifts there that we had saved for him for today. One of the gifts was from our friends from Australia. They bought him a pair of Aussie flip flops. Jaret loves shoes - it's totally my mom's fault because she buys him all these adorable little shoes - which of course is great. But the minute he opened his new shoes he was so excited and just had to try them on. So, off came the shoes he was wearing, and his socks too. Then on went his new little Aussie flip flops. It was all too adorable! He really loves his new flip flops. Jaret enjoyed the birthday celebration, especially when some of the servers came and sang Happy Birthday to him. He thought that was pretty neat. He (and Daddy) also enjoyed the Triple Chocolate Lava Birthday Cake. Maybe the cake is the reason why Jaret was so wound up and not ready to go to bed still at 8:00 p.m. - you think? Jaret can say, "I'm two" when prompted, but is still having trouble trying to hold up two fingers. I'm sure he'll get it eventually. He is growing and learning new things each and everyday. What joy he brings to our lives!
I feel so blessed in my life. This blog is to share those blessings with our loved ones who live too far away to share in the joys we encounter on a daily basis. It is my mission to live a life that is full of gratitude and have a heart that is full of gratitude. Hope that you are taking the time to experience the joy in your life and to be grateful for your many blessings. ~ "When we lose one blessing, another is often, most unexpectedly, given in its place." ~C.S. "I'm Two"
I had such a hard time tucking Jaret into bed last night, thinking about this being the last time I would tuck him as a one year old. I know, I know - suck it up, Jenn - but I can't help but be sentimental and a little on the emotional side when it comes to my little boy. This morning as we walked hand in hand up the steps to the dayhome, I reflected on what a big boy he is, even though not much has changed since yesterday. But again, the sentimentalist in me. And I give myself permission, afterall, I am a Mom.
