Today is the anniversary of my Grandfather's death (May 19, 2004). It is a day that I find difficult, as I reflect on the memories of times spent together and the influence he had on my life. It is a day, filled with many tears and with a deep sorrow that fills my heart. And yet, it is also a day of hope and joy, knowing that we will one day be reunited.
Gramps, you were the one who was always so strong.
You were the one who was always there - in the midst of the joy and the midst of a crisis.
You were the head of our family - showing us love, compassion, faith, and forgiveness.
You were the one who would lead us in song, as we prayed before each meal.
You were the one who would teach us to heal and grow stronger as a family.
The loving memories I have of you will last a lifetime through.
The feelings of love still beat strong in my heart each time I think of you.
The lesson learned is that the love of family,
Lasts a whole lifetime through.
You were...
And you still are...
Your legacy and teachings live on in each one of us.
I miss you Gramps and love you so much.
In Loving Memory of Oscar Sommerfeld (December 7, 1930 - May 19, 2004)
