Pastor Trigg in his recent sermon referred to Easter Sunday as The Best Day. And it truly is. Everything changed that Friday when Jesus was crucified. But then the following day, nothing made sense. That day in between must have been so difficult for the disciples. But the best day was yet to come...
Most of life is lived in between the worst of times and the best of times- a Saturday kind of day.
Are we allowing the circumstances of life to shape our belief about God or are we allowing our beliefs about God to shape our view of life? When you stop to contemplate that question, you will see there is a major difference in how we live life. And reflect on this we must...
Jesus didn't endure crucifixion on the cross to make our lives better but to make us better. What God did for Peter, God longs to do for us. He wants to transform our lives.
Sometimes those Saturday kind of days seem meaningless and sometimes we don't feel God near. We all have Saturday moments where we are looking for direction and guidance, only to feel alone and hear silence. Sometimes God appears to be silent on our Saturdays but we need to remember that we are not alone and God is not far from us but He is very near.
The Best Day...
He is not here. He has risen!
The disciples shouldn't have been surprised by His resurrection but they were. We are reminded in the story of Easter that even though life can be difficult and overwhelming at times, Jesus came.
Jesus came to bring PEACE. And it is that peace that He speaks into our lives. All we have to do is leave all our burdens at the cross, at the feet of Jesus and we will feel the unrelenting peace that only comes from Him.
Jesus came to bring FORGIVENESS. Peter failed spectacularly and in the end he was devastated by his failings. We also have failed but again, all we have to do is leave all our burdens at the cross, at the feet of Jesus and we will feel the forgiveness that only comes from Him.
Jesus came to bring us HOPE. Jesus reminds us in Philippians that we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us. In 2 Corinthians, we are reminded of Jesus' words as he says, "My grace is sufficient for you." He promises to direct our steps and to guide our path. We can find hope in Him, as long as we look to Him and trust Him with our life.
What do we need to hear God say to us?
The tomb is empty!
His promises are full!
He is not here.
He has RISEN!
Embrace the promise this Easter that Jesus came to give us His PEACE, FORGIVENESS, and HOPE.
He is Risen! He is Risen Indeed!
Happy Easter!
