Kirra with all her valentines from school.
I feel so blessed in my life. This blog is to share those blessings with our loved ones who live too far away to share in the joys we encounter on a daily basis. It is my mission to live a life that is full of gratitude and have a heart that is full of gratitude. Hope that you are taking the time to experience the joy in your life and to be grateful for your many blessings. ~ "When we lose one blessing, another is often, most unexpectedly, given in its place." ~C.S. Generous Heart
Kirra definitely has a generous heart. Over the last month, she worked diligently to make valentine's for the homeless. She made over 200 and each one had some hearts she coloured, a message of hope, and a chocolate heart attached. With all the indoor recesses, she had a little help from some friends at school that helped. She was a little disappointed in the end that she wasn't able to give them out to the homeless herself but she knew that it would mean a lot to them to receive them, no matter who handed them out. She is too young to actually volunteer at the shelter but still wanted to help in some way. So, on Saturday morning, Kirra and I volunteered at The Mustard Seed's donation centre. We sorted the many toiletries for a few hours; Kirra loved the experience and hopes to volunteer on a regular basis. We took the valentines with us so that they could be delivered to the shelter. Trudy, who works at the donation centre, was so encouraging with Kirra and grateful that she had taken the time to make all these valentines for those less fortunate. Kirra definitely has a big heart for others. Spending time volunteering, followed by lunch together, was a highlight of time spent together. I love my girl and I am so grateful for her generous heart and her kind spirit. I am also grateful for how she has inspired me to love others by volunteering.
