Gingersnaps and Gingerbread

Kirra loves to bake with me - quality time together. She had been begging me most of Saturday to bake and I had good intentions to do so but time got away from me. So, rather than watching a movie after church on Saturday night, Kirra and I decided to bake. She wanted to do some Christmas baking and wanted to make gingersnaps. We were having a great time and the cookies smelled delicious as they were baking. However, after Kirra went to bed, I decided to sample one. They were a little crumbly and after one bite, I decided to look over the recipe again. OIY! Can you believe that we forgot the sugar?! Shhhh - Kirra doesn't know. Since she was in bed, I decided to bake a new batch - with sugar.

And yes, she is in her pjs baking! Super comfy.

Gingerbread houses - a favourite of both kids. And I have to admit, I love decorating the gingerbread houses too. Although this year I wasn't needed as much for the decorating. The kids are becoming more independent. I wasn't sure how the boys would do with the decorating. A part of me thought they would think it was lame but they really enjoyed it. In fact, as I was helping the girls, the boys were so focused that they were silent. The only sound was the Christmas music playing in the background. And eventually some giggles because there was some crunching and munching of candies. Also huge amounts of icing consumed! The boys were really detailed in their houses. So much so that Arnold didn't even get to the back of his house. It was a great afternoon and I am thankful for some of these traditions that create memories for the kids and their friends.

Aside from the fun with the kids this weekend, I was also able to spend time with my beautiful friend, Rachel. We enjoyed dinner out as a visit was long overdue. I am so grateful for the many amazing people I get to share my life with, including the friendship I have with Rach.
