September

September has been busy but despite the busy and hectic schedule, there have been wonderful memories in the making.

Exploring Sheep River and Sheep River Falls was amazing on the Long Weekend of September. The weather was perfect and we had an awesome time. We had never heard of Sheep River Provincial Park but it has become a favourite spot.

Kirra has begun dance again. She is enrolled in Dancenastics and Jazz. She is excited that some of her school friends and dance friends from last year are in her Dancenastics class and on her first night of Jazz she made a friend named, Kyla. She thinks this is pretty neat since I had a childhood friend named Kyla who was also in my Jazz class.

Jaret has also begun diving again in Novice which means diving twice weekly down at Repsol. He is enjoying it as it involves dry land training and more time in the water. He was learning a new dive last week and told me that it hurt quite a bit when he did a back flop. I knew immediately as he hit fairly hard, even though it was off the low board. No pictures as of yet but they will come.

September also meant saying good-bye to some neighbourhood friends. Kirra made friends with twins Dan and Violetta (aged 6) and Jaret with Ian who is the same age, which always made me smile when I would look at the size difference between them. The family moved back to Spain, but it may be temporary and we are hoping they will be back around Christmas.

September also meant the start of the NFL season. There has been lots of football on tv from Rider games to Seahawk games. Lots of cheering!! And some disappointing games as well.

Spent some time connecting with friends which also included celebrating a birthday for my friend Rachel.

My parents visited in September as well. Mom had some doctor's appointments and was here for a week and Dad had a study club so joined us this past Thursday evening. It was helpful to have Mom  here for the week as Terry was in Ottawa so getting the kids to dance and diving would have otherwise been difficult. We wanted to get out to Johnston's Canyon but with a severe winter storm warning, we opted for Sheep River Provincial Park. It was a great afternoon and the fall colours were beautiful. And supper at 4th spot was a nice way to end the day.

September has come to a close. I have to say that I am thankful that it is behind as it was another busy start the the school year with some long days. And through it all, I am still trying to find the balance needed to live Present Over Perfect. I have been doing well with rest and keeping the Sabbath day but in order to do so, I find that I often overdo it during the week to get to that point. I am trying to ensure there are boundaries and have had some success there but always a work in progress for me. And saying no has been necessary because my priorities need to ensure that I have time for my children. And with the load of homework Jaret has in Grade 6, I have needed to carve out even more time to support him when necessary. When life does get too hectic, I am learning to stop and reflect on what I want my life to look like and then make choices accordingly. I am looking forward to October and what God has planned for the days ahead.
