I feel so blessed in my life. This blog is to share those blessings with our loved ones who live too far away to share in the joys we encounter on a daily basis. It is my mission to live a life that is full of gratitude and have a heart that is full of gratitude. Hope that you are taking the time to experience the joy in your life and to be grateful for your many blessings. ~ "When we lose one blessing, another is often, most unexpectedly, given in its place." ~C.S. Gingerbread House Tradition
The kids love our annual Gingerbread House Tradition. And so do I! It is always fun to have friends over and decorate the gingerbread houses. I remember back to a few years ago when we started this tradition, the kids had a difficult time decorating their gingerbread houses on their own. I needed to be right there helping them. But now, as they are getting older, growing up, and being more independent, they can decorate their houses by themselves. This year they were both able to do more of the decorating on their own than they had the year before. Although, I did have to stop Jaret toward the end from just eating the icing right from the icing tube. Even Kirra was quite independent this year and enjoyed making her own design with as much icing and candy that she could fit on the roof. Completely Kirra, as she loves her sweets! Both of the kids enjoyed having their friends here for this special afternoon. And since decorating their houses, they have also enjoyed eating the candies off their houses. Good thing I got some pictures because their houses look a little bare with the candy being eaten off bit by bit. I look forward to doing this again next year and seeing how much better they get at decorating with each passing year. A family fun activity that began in Germany in the 1800's. Although, unlike the gingerbread houses of that time, one doesn't have to make their own gingerbread for houses. I love that I can buy a gingerbread house that is already constructed and ready to decorate from Costco. Fun to decorate but more fun to eat!
