Family Day Weekend

Our Family Day Long Weekend has been really low key.  On Friday, Jaret participated with his friend Peter in the Science Fair at school.  They didn't place but Jaret had fun and said that he thought it was a good experience and that it will help him know what he can do better for next year.  I am so proud of him and his positive attitude and the character he showed.  The students all did a really good job with their projects and there was more student participation from the Grade 4's than there had been in a couple of years.

I can't forget that it was also Dynamic Duo at school and Kirra and Kaycee dressed as Anna and Elsa:

In the afternoon, the kids had a play date with the Tysdal's and after work, Shea and I visited over Starbucks.  That evening, the kids and I had movie night.  I was so tired from the day that I ended up falling asleep during the movie.  Saturday we slept in and following a yummy brunch, Kirra and I went to a baby shower for one of my colleagues.  Kirra was thrilled to be able to hold Baby Sawyer and also Baby Malcolm.  She is so good with babies and will be a great babysitter and mom one day.

Saturday evening was church.  Sunday we finished some Lego building that had been working on throughout the weekend.  Kirra's HeartLake Mall is now complete, with much thanks to her brother who loves building.  We went and watched McKinley play soccer in a tournament and then it was home to decorate valentine cookies.  We made supper for Valentine's Day rather than going out and then just spent a quiet evening.

I wrote Valentine's to the kids and they each had their own tree that they were displayed on.  I love writing love notes to them and reminding them each of all the reasons why I love them so much!

It was nice to have Monday off, although Terry worked a great deal throughout the weekend, including Monday.  But we did manage to take some time for a Starbuck's date with the kids.  And Terry helped Jaret build his Tin Can Robot that was a gift from my parents.  It is a pretty cool little toy.

Spending time on Family Day weekend is such a precious gift and not one to be taken for granted.  Sometimes it is easy to get caught up in all the things that need doing and that require my attention but none of them is more important for me in this season of life than spending time with my kids and it is the time spent doing the every day, small things that count.  Happy Family Day!
