We had time before leaving Saskatoon to spend with friends and say our good byes. Despite looking forward to moving back to Calgary, it is still hard to say good bye to dear friends. We lived had great neighbours who will be missed immensely; Jaret keeps trying to tell them they should move to Calgary which would work well as the house right next door is for sale...just saying Timm Family. Here are some pics of neighbourhood friends:

Our possession date for our new home was Monday, June 30 and the movers were to move us in the day after but were delayed due to the truck breaking down. It kind of felt like a repeat of last summer with the truck that moved us breaking down then too. So we stayed an extra night at the Sheraton before moving in on Wednesday, July 2. The kids loved the delay as it meant an extra day to enjoy the pool and water slides. And positive was it also meant some downtime for us before the move would make things hectic and chaotic. I think God knew we needed some down time before facing some minor challenges. When we moved in, the home was not as clean as it should be which was a disappointment. However, the silver lining is that they told me I could let them know when I wanted cleaners in to clean so I am currently enjoying a clean house after feeling a little more organized. We still have curtains to buy and hang and pictures to hang but it is all coming together. I have my feet up and I am enjoying a glass of white wine as I blog tonight. A needed break...
Wednesday morning as we were moving in, Shaw was scheduled and being organized, I already had the phone modem in the basement utility room, right where it would be needed. Not such a good idea as a leak was discovered that wrecked the modem. But the gentleman was gracious, even though not all the necessary equipment was in place as it was just being moved in (which was supposed to happen the day before). Our blinds were also installed that morning and the gentleman doing that didn't have everything he needed to needed to drive back down south to the office and return later. It really was a gong show around here. The movers got everything moved in but really left it in a mess all over the house. No organization to it whatsoever. Really?
Now back to the leak...it turns out that when installing the pantry shelving, they hit the stack for the plumbing. It is a common occurrence but one we would have liked to not experience. They had to cut into the wall in the pantry, re-pipe, drywall, patch, and paint. We went five days without a pantry and with all the pantry items sitting in the kitchen/dining area. It was difficult to feel settled or to make a meal, with having food all over the place. However, the pantry got finished and is now organized and yes I am an organization geek:
So, as you can see, we have experienced some stress. And that isn't even all of it but will stop there for now. We will enjoy our new house and call it home once we have it looking more like home and start connecting with friends in Calgary again and meeting the neighbours. Jaret and Kirra were out yesterday searching for kids who may live nearby. They counted six kids that they could see and introduced themselves to two little boys who live about a block away. We continue to pray for friendships to form. It is late and I am exhausted so will sign off for now. For our friends in Calgary, hope to see each of you soon and for those friends afar, come visit - you are always welcome!
