We decided to go to the Forestry Farm to visit the zoo and play at the playground. We hadn't taken the kids to the zoo in Saskatoon yet so they enjoyed being able to walk around and see all the different animals or "aminls" as Kirra still sometimes calls them. Jaret loved the deer because he got really close and fed them. Kirra was a little more reserved when it came to feeding them but she did try it. Her favourite part was the deer (if she didn't have to get too close) and the grizzly bears. It was great that the sun came out and there was no wind. It made for a wonderful afternoon walking through the zoo. We even got to see a peacock with his feathers up, just wish he was a little closer so we could have seen the feathers shimmer with their bright colours in the sunshine.
Following the walk through the zoo, the kids still had tonnes of energy so it was play time at the playground. Jaret never ceases to amaze me with his love of swinging along on the monkey bars. He swings back and forth and makes it look like it takes no effort at all. Kirra loves the slide and playing make belief where she pretends to serve up ice cream treats from her little store front. I love watching them play and hear their giggles and see their smiling faces as they enjoy time at the playground.
One would think after such a full afternoon, that the kids would want to kick back at home but no...they still had energy for more play. While Terry and I sat and visited with our neighbours on their deck, the kids played for a few hours on the trampoline and in the yard. What a perfect summer day and evening!
"Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations." ~Deuteronomy 7:9
I love this picture - notice the deer sticking out his tongue at Jaret.
Kirra didn't appreciate how gross her hand was after the deer licked it clean as it wasn't so clean.
